could you tell me how to extract number from cell in Numbers

It is easy in Excel....

Excel and Numbers are very much alike so I don't know what the problem might be.


If the cell you want to reference is cell B2,

  • In Excel the full addresss is =worksheetname!B2 where worksheetname is the name of the worksheet with cell B2
  • In Numbers the full address is =Sheetname::Tablename::B2 where Sheetname is the name of the sheet and Tablename is the name of the table.
  • In Excel if B2 is in the same worksheet as the formula you would use =B2
  • In Numbers if B2 is in the same table as the formula you would use =B2
  • In Numbers if B2 is in the same sheet but a different table from the formula you would use =Tablename::B2


Of course, a typical way to get the reference to a cell is to click on the cell vs typing in any of that stuff above. Type an = to bring up the formula editor (same as with Excel) then click on the cell you want to reference (same as Excel).
