hi I just received a new iPhone 12 and I transferred my data from my iPhone 8 to it. This iPhone seems to not be able to download all of my photos and leaves a lot of blanks in my camera roll. I was wondering if there is any reason for this happening and wondering how can I fix it so that I have all my photos? For example do I need more storage or is it an issue with the phone ? If you are using iCloud photos, then they will not transfer from the old phone. Instead they will be downloaded from iCloud. This can take a little time.
What does the status say at the bottom of your photo library.

They may not have downloaded yet and the blanks you see are space holders. I would think that the iPhone 12 has more storage space.
Did you save your images to iCloud before erasing the iPhone 8?
