I suddenly can't keep two windows showing at the same time on my imac screen - one always slides to the right

I'm suddenly having trouble with this and none of the answers I've read on these forums seems to help... When I have Google Chrome open on my iMac, and then I try to open Apple Music or any other application, such as Garage Band, so that they're both open and showing on the desktop at the same time, the Chrome window slides off to the right, so that only one window is showing at a time. How do I fix this? Nothing is working... thanks!

Boot into Safe Mode according to Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support and see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and check again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
