Drobo Mini TB Thunderbolt Not Mounting or Working in Big Sur *SOLVED*

My intent of posting this is not to ask a question but post a solution that took me 2 hours to find, and only took 2 minutes to complete. If you are having trouble connecting a Drobo with thunderbolt after upgrading to Big Sur.... the solution is NOT just use a USB3 cable... but instead follow the steps which were in a post... but many seemed to overlook. Maybe they didn't do the steps correctly. I assure you this works:


SINCE YOU WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN YOUR COMPUTER MULTIPLE TIMES

PRINT THIS OUT OR TAKE A PICTURE OF IT TO HAVE ALLLLL THE STEPS.


Your mac will not see the drobo in the finder, and it won't mount.

Open Drobo Dashboard. It WILL see your drobo.

Make sure you have the latest firmware in your drobo - and update if necessary.

Shut down the computer.

Disconnect the Thunderbolt cable from the drobo.

Restart the computer.

Open your hard drive in finder and navigate to:

Library>Application Support>Data Robotics

Run the drobo uninstaller to uninstall the drobo dashboard.

Shut down the computer.

Restart the computer.

Download and install the latest drobo dashboard.

Run the drobo dashboard.

Big Sur will ask you to authorize access to your drobo. (This is a new security feature)

Go to system settings and ALLOW drobo to be accessed.

It will say you have to restart the computer.

Restart.

Once the computer boots back up shut it down again.

While it is powered off - connect the thunderbolt cable to the drobo.

Power up the drobo and the computer.

It will mount and be accessible.

Took me a couple of tries but finally worked, following Drobo's support doc. You have to completely uninstall your current Drobo Dashboard using the uninstaller file (Library>Application Support>Data Robotics). Disconnect Thunderbolt cable from Drobo unit. Install latest version (3.5.2). Shutdown your computer. Reconnect Thunderbolt cable. Then restart your Mac. After two tries, worked for me.
