Reinstall Safari:

Remove any Yahoo app from your Mac, and use the link provided above: Update or reinstall Safari for your computer - Apple Support. There is no virus on your Mac. So no worries there.

Adobe has stopped releasing Adobe Flash player for Mac.

What you have installed is adware under the guise of Adobe.

Usually adware is plain nuisance. Installing Malwarebytes for Mac is a good option.

This is what Apple say about malware in laymen's terms.

I had this virus too I think- I downloaded a program which posed as Adobe- and I remember thinking "oh ok, yes Im due an update" before I knew it, I had a pop up asking if "I wanted to have sex in the area" I knew straight away it was probably a virus. I didn't do anything about it straight away. I then kept having pop ups telling me my memory was low, and then when I searched for something it would be using the yahoo search engine, even though I was still using safari. It was really odd.

Thank fully, not being at all tech savvy I have now bought and installed malware bytes. I hope that it will do the job and protect me. If anyone can reply on this thread about how virus' work, I'm really interested to know. Was my computer being hacked? Should I be concerned about my passwords/ financial info being "out there" somewhere now. Is it part of a larger scam to get people to buy anti virus software?

I am really interested in all this despite having little time or patience atm to go through all the nerdy articles :) which for me a super hard to read :/
