installing apps from app store

i have the latest version of mac os high sierra10.13.6 ,yet each time i wish to download any software it requesting a higher version of 10.14 .this ha s made it difficult to keep my application up and running .How do i know and get the softwares compatible to this version of mac ?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and if your MacBook Pro is a 2012 or newer model, click on Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur. If not, you can't use the current version of that software on it.
