M1 Mac loops at language selection when trying to run diagnostics

Hi, as the title mentions I’m trying to run diagnostics on my M1 MBP but it keeps looping back to the language selection menu.

What I’ve done after shutting down I pressed and held the power button to go into startup options. When that loaded I pressed and held CMD+D to run diagnostics. It then takes me to language selection screen with “Diagnostics Loader” titled in the context menu at the top. But every time I select my preferred language and click “OK” it just restarts and takes me back to the same language selection screen.
