Can the 3.5MM headphone port be used as input (LINE IN) ?

Planning on buying a M1 mac mini very soon and was wondering the following.

I currently got a windows PC and a wireless USB headset connected to this pc to listen to audio, I also got a console hooked up to 1 of my monitors through HDMI and use a 3.5MM cable from my monitor to the LINE IN input option on my PC to listen to both my console and PC audio at the same time.

This works great, and I was hoping to be able to do the same with my M1 Mac mini which will be replacing my desktop PC.

So the question is, can the 3.5MM jack on the M1 be used as a INPUT and not just output port?

Thanks in advance for answering my question! <3

3.5mm headphone port on Mac mini M1 cann be used with headphones from iPhone or other brands that have microphone for calls so you basically have microphone in and audio out from that port. Just Google it and you will find some methods on YouTube how to trick a Mac to recognise mic input. You would also need some adapters from TRRS to TRS like on this YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta3Qsme2zWc. There is a way to connect line audio and listen to it trough this 3.5mm port but it is not simple solution. The simplest solution will be USB audio adapter and you are ready to go but I don't know how is with compatibility with M1 and this USB audio adapters. Maybe someone here has tested and knows witch ones work with M1.
