Logitech C920 Camera not working with M1 MacBook Pro

In the past week the camera has intermittently ceased sending a video signal during Zoom, Teams, Slack, etc. No apparent rhyme or reason.

The camera is recognized/correctly identified by these software applications (all the latest updated versions), the blue lights on the camera turn on, and an audio signal is detected coming from the camera.

But no picture is produced (yes I have the lens cover off). The screen is always black.

Usually I run camera through a Kensington SD4750P USB-C Docking Station, but even if I plug directly into the MBP via a USB to USB-C adaptor, the results are the same.

I have restarted multiple times, and even tested the camera to see if it functions on my O-L-D 2012 MBP Retina 15-inch, running High Sierra. Camera works fine.

  • I am running Big Sur 11.2.3
  • MBP M1 13-inch w/ 16GB RAM

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Hey there nrking1,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're having issues with your USB camera not working as expected, and we'd be happy to see how we can help.

To get started, has the webcam worked with this MacBook Pro previously? If so, do you remember if the issue started after making any changes to your device? For example, did the issue start after updating any software on your MacBook, after changing any settings, or after installing any new apps or software?

Also, give the steps listed in the following resource a try, and let us know if that helps: If a USB device doesn’t work with Mac - Apple Support

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Have a great day!
