Safari crashes on opening

Safari continually crashes on opening. I don't even get the chance to make changes like emptying cache, accessing extensions or preference to check for issues. How can I investigate the issues such as plugins or extensions or cache or preferences when the program crashes as soon as it opens? I have tried searching through Library/Safari etc and can't access anything. I like Safari however will probably use Firefox as my go to due to these issues.

So how to stop it from going off before the "stopped responding" warning. I have used activity monitor to verify the program has "stopped responding".

Please not

  1. ALL software and operating systems are up to date and working - Big Sur. etc
  2. All updates have been completed for all programs.
  3. Cannot attempt to sort extensions or investigate the issue as the program crashes before I have a chance to access Safari menu.

If you have time try these steps.

  1. Restart your Mac.

Launch Safari holding the shift key down and test.

2 Startup in  safe mode to try to isolate the cause of the issue.

  • Select your account and login
  • Test.

To leave Safe Mode, click Apple logo   in the menu bar and choose “Restart”.

     Test the site again

3. Try Private browsing

Reinstall the macOS:

If you Safari keeps crashing, then you may need to reinstall the macOS. The application is likely corrupt (something that typically occurs after performing upgrading and other installations).

1. First, Back up your Mac:

Create a Time Machine backup of your Mac, so that you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall.

2. Then, Reinstall the macOS:

Nothing would be deleted. It's just that items that have become corrupted or deleted, would be replaced or reinstalled back to where they should be. Go Here: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support

thanks for the advice. I tried all of those suggestions and I am still experiencing problems. I think i need to be able to delete the plist - however i have updated to Big Sur and can't even access anything manually. Also I have no extensions or history to delete in the safari program as those are empty. Also in advanced there is no cache. So the problem continues - the only solution i can consider is a clean install of big sur? If so, how is this possible as i could only install via Apps?

Any other suolutions - safari continues to crash and seems to affect everything else. I am currently using another browser to access web. That is not the problem either as there are no global extensions on it.
