Can't enable System Integrity Protection
Yesterday, I tried to use Apple Pay on Amazon. It did not work. I went to my Apple Wallet and found all my cards had been deactivated - only on the Mac Book Pro. Apple Pay works on my home computer, iPhone and Apple Watch.
When I tried to add them, I got this message
The only thing I had done earlier in the day was I deleted an Adobe Log In item for Acrobat that was no longer being used. No other changes that I am aware of.
Called Apple Care and was told that my System Integrity Protection was disabled
I followed the instructions here
several times. In recovery mode, I get a Terminal message saying that SIP has been enabled.
But then, each time after restarting, it seems to become disabled.
My guess is that something is inhibiting the reset of the SIP but I can't seen to find what it is. Other actions I have taken include:
- I have signed in and out of iCloud
- I have reset the PRAM and NVRAM
- I have checked / unchecked the security updates in the Big Sur advanced software update
Using the Mac Book Pro as is - no external monitor or other devices.
I know this is very technical - but I am hoping someone has some idea on what to do next. My last Apple Tech call was rather unhelpful - so I am turning to the community.
