You're most welcome!

We were asking if you've removed any email accounts to see if an account that you removed was syncing the missing contacts. Do you see all of the missing contacts on the iCloud website? When you say you have over 1,000 contacts on your Mac and iPhone, do you see them there now or are you referring to the ones that are missing? Are all of your missing contacts on your Mac?

If you aren't sure which archive to restore from, we want to make sure you don't lose any data. We invite you to reach out to us here to continue working with you to resolve this: Get Support

We look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!

Hi i_rina. Thank you for responding. I will look, but the first part of the link says "If you accidentally deleted your..." I did not accidentally delete them. zMy hundreds of contacts simply disappeared (except for one). All my contacts are presently on my iPhone and on my MacBook. I am concerned about doing anything that might cause those to get deleted too, or that I may loose some that may have been recently added. Can you give me an assured path to fixing my iCloud contacts (which all my devices synch to) that will not risk losing the up-to-date- contacts I have on all my devices?

Thanks!

Thanks for the response.

I have allowed certain services to read (is that the same as synch?) my contacts (e.g., Linkedin, gmail, google voice). When you ask, "Have you removed any recently?" do you mean removed any contacts? Or removed any of these services that I had allowed to read my contacts? Contacts IS turned on undersetting. iCloud seems to require I sign in every week or two. I assumed that was a security feature. I did sign out of iCloud after I noticed this problem, hoping that signing back in would fix it.

Question: If I restore iCloud contacts from the first available archive, and if that one has only 1 contact then all my devices will have that 1 contact, right? That would be bad and I would then have to then try the next oldest archive and so on. I have all my nearly 1,000 contacts on my phone and MacBook at this moment. Is there any way I can push them to iCloud, rather than restore iCloud from a less current iCloud archive?

Thanks!

While I was deciding what course of action to take (I was leaning towards figuring out how to restore from my archived addresses from my phone) the problem "fixed itself". All my 900+ contacts appeared. It is great that they did, but odd that they disappeared. Do you have any idea what happened and how it was fixed? Apple myst have done something as I did nothing.
