Flashlight on lockscreen

Why cant I use the flashlight on my lockscreen? The icon is there, but nothing happens when I interact with it. Should I bring my iPhone back to the seller and ask if there's something wrong with the device? My iPhone is brand new, it's only around 2 weeks since I purchased it.
