Do I need to deactivate my old phone on sprint service

My old 10x is still working, receiving my texts, emails, etc. but I can send a text on new 12, that shows up on both. What do I do next? I thought this was ‘activating’ my new and deactivating the old 10x? What am I missing?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

Hi Doodette,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're getting messages on both devices because you're still signed in to the old device, correct? We'd love to help get the issue resolved for you. Is the new device with the same carrier, and using the same phone number? If so, did you move your SIM card to the new device?

If the new device has all of your data transferred and is up and running as it should be, we recommend signing out of your old device following the steps we've linked below.

Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac

Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We're always happy to help.

Cheers!

Thank you, and Yes, it is Sprint and I didn’t have the new SIM card activated only the phone, I still had to replace the SIM card that came in the new iPhone 12 with a T-Mobile (merged) one that was also in the box, it wasn’t clear to me that these steps were all separate, even when doing it again on the other new phone we ordered it was not a smooth process. I am assuming this is because of the merger and a first phone since kinda thing as we have been with sprint for 20 years, nonetheless it was very frustrating process that took much longer than it could have.
