Why am I not able to sync my fossil GEN five smart watch to my iPhone 12 pro when my son is able to sync his iPhone 12 pro to this smart watch?

can apple watch series 3 be synced with iphone 6 i am unable to sync apple watch series 3 with iphone 6, the phone is updated to maximum allowed by apple. watch is brand new new been synced with any other phone.
