Firefox crashing when opening most Russian websites

This is a really strange issue - since about 2 weeks my Firefox browser crashes immediately when I try to open any Russian website. Numerous bug reports to Firefox gave no result - they cannot find a problem yet. I tried clean reinstall of Firefox completely, tried several different versions, also in Safe Mode - nothing helped. There is no problem whatsoever with Safari or Chrome. Also Firefox works perfect on any other system.

This is truly bizarre. Typing in Russian normally works, also reading Facebook and Gmail in Russian is ok, but it's just as soon as I go to any Russian website it just crashes.

I am on Mac OS High Sierra

Maybe you missed an ancillary file Firefox stores data in that the new install automatically uses. It is difficult to find all the parts of installed programs. You have checked all the known answers, so the answer is something you don't expect. If you type a Russian link into the address field and pull the network cable out before hitting return, does it still crash, indicating the problem is internal to your computer or, do you get a network error?

You have an interesting problem.

I have manually searched my Mac for anything that has Firefox in it including System files. Some of them I could not delete probably because I need root privileges - I am also not sure which files exactly is safe to delete - I might try doing it from the Recovery partition. Where should I look for the ancillary files?

When I try to load a Russian website without network (I use WiFi) then nothing happens. I tried timing so that the website just starts loading and then I turn off the Wifi, but in this case - as soon as the website starts appearing on screen then it immediately crashes...

That's a hard one. I have seen posters here list the other places such file reside, but I didn't save the info. I would think Firefox support/blog would have someone who knows more than anyone here. There are files that browsers save site info in for fast loading and that might be a problem if the old one is still there and is corrupted. You may find more complete info posting on the Firefox site.
