Interface Issues on M1 MacBook Pro in GarageBand

My track is freezing on GarageBand 10.4.3 when I play through my interface, a Zoom H4n. After a few minutes of testing levels where it sounds fine through the guitar samples in GarageBand 10.4 it freezes forcing me to shut down the program.

All my settings are as per the instructions for the input and output. Signals are fine too as the interface is responsive with my playing on its screen.

The interface has worked fine on my old MacBook Pro I bought in 2012 too, so I'm thinking maybe this is a compatibility issue?

If anyone has any insight to this that'd be a big help. Very frustrating! I'm running everything on an M1 machine with a USB-USBc adaptor.

The adaptor may possibly be contributing to this as well perhaps?
