Where do you enter the Apple ID verification code?

On the device you are signing in on you should see a frame with 6 fields to enter the number. If this device is signed into your Apple ID you will get the popup with the code there as well as on all other devices - often it obscures the entry fields to you will need to move it. You can 'trust' the device so that the niext time you sign in you don't have to do this all over again.
