after installing big sur, other storage has crippled my MacBook

I cleared space and installed big sur on my 128gb hard drive - and now my 'other' storage has ballooned to 70+gb and has caused my MacBook to be practically unusable. I've downloaded cleanmymac and read every thread about other storage, but to no avail. What can be done? or is Apple simply telling me I have to buy a new MacBook (or *gasp switch to a PC).

Remove cleanmymac Only As Per Developers Instructions. This Cra*ware will really mess up the OS and may even corrupt it to the point it needs to reinstalled.

Get an External USB Drive and move Documents, Videos, Pictures, Movies, iOS Backups, Music off the Internal Drive to the External Drive

As for The Other Category should not be altered, modified, move or deleted nor should it be attempted to be. Doing so may corrupt the OS and rendered the OS inoperative requiring a Wipe and Re-Installation.

The Other category is a potpourri of files which include:

• System temporary files

• macOS system folders

• Archives and disk images (.zip, .iso, etc. - often found in the Downloads folder)

• Personal user data

• Files from the user’s library (Application Support, iCloud files, screensavers, etc.)

• Cache files

• Fonts, plugins, extensions

• Other files that are not recognized by a Spotlight search

• Media files that cannot be classified by Spotlight as a media file because they are located inside of a package

What is “Other” storage on a Mac, and how can I clean it out?

Installing Big Sur on an Internal Drive Capacity of 128GB is going to be a real push for the User to Manage ALL Applications and still keep at least 10 to 15 GB of Empty Space Available at All Times.

Will have to inventory All Installed Application and decide what is Necessary and what is Not - then Remove as per Developers Instruction.
