How to disable microphone on Iphone11

Using the Mute Button:

While you are on the phone call, tap the Mute button (looks like a while microphone with a line through it). Once tapped the microphone stays red, but the backgrounds turns from a dull-grey come, to a bright-red color. It is located on the top-left corner of the buttons. You cannot mute it, if it is not being used.

When I Use It:

For me, its typically something I would tap while on hold, so I can have some privacy.

You can't. Many features including making calls require the microphone. Why would you want to render it unusable by disabling it?

What exactly is the issue with the microphone?

Disabling is likely not the solution.
