iPhone 12 not recognized on PC when using supplied Lightning/USB-C cable

Purchased (4) new iPhone 12's and all (4) devices are not recognized on two different PC's using the supplied Lightning/USB-C cable.

When the supplied cable is plugged in to a Windows PC the iPhone 12 charges and makes the charging connection sound and Windows makes the new device found sound and shows up in Device Manager - Universal Serial Bus Controllers – Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). No “Trust this Computer” pop up is displayed and iTunes does NOT see the iPhone 12. Tried several different cables and phones.

When I go to the properties of the Unknown Device I get "Windows has stopped this device because

it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request from the USB device descriptor failed."

Called Apple support and after the required being disconnected issues and talking with two senior advisors I was told that the iPhone 12 with the supplied Lightning/USB-C cable will not work with any windows PC. WHHHHHHAAAAAAAATTTTT?

I do notice, however, if I use the same cable with a USB-C to USB-A adapter not only does the Windows PC recognize the iPhone 12 but iTunes does too! You have got to be kidding me. So Apple is choosing to go backwards with the USB cable now?

Anyone have workarounds on this before I return them for Androids?

After many phone calls and hours of research I have found the problem to be the Processors in both computers I had problems with contained AMD Ryzen 5 series APU's(CPU). It seems that AMD is just now recognizing the problem and will hopefully come out with a fix for the problem soon.

The AMD chipset, Southbridge, is now on the APU(CPU) itself and is causing many USB issues. So if anyone else has connection issues with the iPhone not connecting and all other fixes have failed,...check your computer or laptop to see if it contains the AMD Ryzen 3 or 5 series APU (CPU).

Thanks for the help but have been thru all of the Apple suggestions and NO go. I tried to post in the iPhone forum and the administrator keeps tossing my question out. I've searched long and wide on the web but nothing works.

The only common thread is the supplied NEW lightning/USB-C cable. When I put a USB-C to USB-A adapter on it works. So it appears that Windows does not know how to interpret the NEW USB-C connection with the iPhone 12...ie driver doesn't work with USB-C only USB-A.

I can plug other USB-C items in the PC and they work just fine. Just the new iPhone 12s, four of them, doing same thing on two different computers.

I don't have personal experience with USB C on Windows, and I guess it is possible that Apple's Windows driver isn't ready for USB C. That said are you running on Windows 10, and if so are you using the Microsoft Store version of iTunes or the old school installer? Is there any activity in device manager when you plug the USB-C cable in? If so what shows up?

When the iPhone 12 is plugged in to the PC with the supplied Lightning/USB-C cable Windows Device Manager reports new device as - Universal Serial Bus Controllers – Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). When viewing hidden devices no Apple support is listed.

If you open the properties of the Unknown device it shows - Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request from the USB device descriptor failed.

No “Trust this Computer” pop up is displayed on the NEW iPhone 12s and iTunes does NOT see the iPhone 12 with either the Microsoft store app or the downloaded version from Apple.

turingtest2 thanks for your help. I have also tried the question on the Windows forums with no luck so far. I tried sending your feedback form in but the form wouldn't let me add all the info I have complied trying to fix this issue so far. I am running out of time to return these NEW iPhone 12's before I can get the issue resolved. I hope its a simple change but worry its a need to implement a new software driver for the iPhone 12 since even Apples senior reps had no work around. Once again thanks for your help.
