Remove "Card on File" apple wallet

I would like to add a new card from my bank but the old card. comes up as a "card on file". It is not anywhere in my account, wallet, store, iTunes, yet when I try to add a new card from the same provider it will not let me. and just says "contact card issuer". The old card is stuck in the background and isn't deleting. Has anyone solved this issue?

I’ve discovered this issue is on the bank side.

It depends on the issue for the new card.

New Cards that are issued due to expiration will be fine as will Lost or damaged cards.

Cards re-issued due to an account issue such as fraud will have this problem and you will need to speak to the bank in question once you have the new card.

To all the eager fanboys who just provide links to support pages - please jog on. I am looking for someone who has actually solved this bug themselves. It is not a generic issue that you can google for us. Thanks.
  1. you do not get to decide how anyone chooses to help you.
  2. You have not listed what you have tried already.
  3. Insulting everyone who might read this is a bad way to start.
  4. Go to settings>general>reset>and reset all settings.
  5. go to iCloud.com and sign in. Select "account settings" then select the device in question and choose "remove all" under the Apple Pay section.
