Is there something I can do to get it fixed. Apple wants 700 to hold on a card until they received the old phone back and then will release the funds. I don’t have a spare 700 just laying around for them to hold. My carrier is obligated to send us to apple for help.
What you are describing is their advanced replacement option called an Express Replacement Service. The hold is collateral because they are replacing the device before you send the one with an issue back.
You can ask for a Mail in Repair where you ship the phone in for service first and they return it after it has been repaired or replaced, but it’s on you to have s as backup while it’s gone.
Other option is to see if you can make an Apple Store or Apple Authorized store appointment for in possibly store service, or see if they have a loaner option while it’s shipped in.
