If my emails are also on my computer, which isn’t an Apple product, do I still need it backed up on my phone.

Do I need to back up my emails when I also have them on my computer, which isn’t an Apple product?

In almost all cases your email is stored on your email server and not on the device.

Check your settings. POP means on the device and IMAP means stored on the server.
