FaceTime requires constant password and unblocking

I really have two issues at the moment:

  1. When I log onto my MacBook Pro or my iPad, FaceTime isn't active and I'm asked first to put in my password, then answer security questions, and then unblock my account. This happens at least once a week.
  2. I set my messages to appear on the MacBook and the iPad as well as my phone. For a long time, this worked just fine. Recently, my messages come only to my phone. I already reset the whole thing once and it worked for awhile and now is back to showing only on my phone.

Is there a simple way to restore things?

Hi there, dizs! Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are having some issues with your FaceTime and Messages apps on different devices. We definitely understand that  can be a concern and we'd love to help. Let’s start by resolving the Messages issue, then we can move to the FaceTime concerns. Please take a look at this article, to make sure everything is being set up correctly: How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac.

Please let us know once the Messages start working normally again, or if this does not resolve the issue, and we will move forward together. Have a great day!

We appreciate that clarification on the issue, dizs. We can definitely look into this further, as you should not have to input your password quite that often. If an app is very rarely used, it is possible that you might be asked to sign in, like you are doing with FaceTime. That said, we want to make sure there are no issues causing this to pop up so frequently. Have you tried changing your password recently? If not, let's try updating your password and seeing if that affects this behavior at all: Change your Apple ID password.

Once that is completed, please let us know if you still see the password request popup frequently. We will be waiting to hear back from you. Have a nice day.

Thanks for getting back with us, Dizs. We're glad to hear that one issue is resolved, so let's keep working together on the FaceTime concerns. The fact that this is occurring on two different devices (your Mac and iPad) tells us that it's likely not device-related. So, we will consider your actual Apple ID account next. Do you experience the same behavior when using other Apple software, such as iMessage or iCloud? When exactly did this behavior start? When you complete a FaceTime call, do you close the app or just leave it in the background?

We appreciate you shedding a bit more light on this issue so we can start narrowing it down further. Thanks and take care!

I think it's not so much a FaceTime issue as an id issue. I rarely use FaceTime so the extra sign-in just appears every so often. Last night, before I could update apps on my iPad, I had to sign in yet again. And, as I was writing this reply, I tried to update an app on this computer and, again, I had to sign in. My password is always accepted, except on the occasions Apple blocks it and I have to answer security questions.

I don't really know when this started, only that I've searched and found that others have experienced similar issues in the recent and not so recent past. I went directly from Mojave to Big Sur and I know this has been going on since the upgrade, but it may have started earlier.
