The "network card" seems to have crashed the entire MacBook - Apple M1

I was connected using Ethernet on a Satechi multiport v2 adapter, browsing LinkedIn using Chrome when suddenly all my Chrome tabs hung. I realised I have been disconnected from the internet, but all of my other devices were fine. I tried to connect over Wi-Fi but that didn't work, so I opened network preferences. When I did, the Settings app crashed right after displaying a blank Network Preferences window. It seemed as if the entire MacBook could not do anything network-related.

I tried opening the Console app but that crashed too, so I tried launching the Activity Monitor to kill it, but that crashed too... Restarting my Mac using the power button was the only that worked at that point (actually even restarting took a considerable amount of time, showing only my background and my cursor for about 2 minutes, and of course I could not move the cursor)
