Carplay issues with Sony radio

Having issues with my compatibility with my XR (14.4.2) and my Sony radio (has up to date firmware), I have tried resetting all the areas that involve carplay on the phone, new lighting cable from apple to the radio and power cycled both the phone and the radio. please help.

Constant car radio rebooting when iPhone connected Ever since the iOS15.6 update I did earlier this week I can no longer get my car head unit to stay on when my phone is connected. About 15 seconds after my phone connects and CarPlay loads, the whole head unit crashes and reboots, then there's a delay in CarPlay loading again after the car radio reboots, and then it crashes again. I have also tried two different genuine apple cables and neither work. Really frustrated as this problem seems to have come about with the latest version of iOS on my phone specifically.

CarPlay connection turns my car radio off Every time I get in my car and my phone connects to CarPlay, it turns off the car radio (ie the radio station I was listening to stops playing - the car media screen is still on). There's no media playing on my phone. How can I get CarPlay to connect (so I can use my phone's maps), but leave the car's radio playing? I can just switch back to the car's menu and turn the radio back on, but I don't want the radio to be turned off in the first place. Any ideas? I found something that said I can use an automation to do this (along the lines of: when the phone connects to CarPlay, pause media on the phone), but this doesn't work for me. Thanks

My Carplay Multi-Media has stopped working!! My carplay Multi-Media has stopped working! Why has Apple (some update) ruined my iPhone’s ability to play Apple Music through my 2011 Venza’s radio system? It was working just fine until recently. I have an iPhone Pro Max. The car shows that it is playing but NO SOUND comes out?! It also shows it is playing on the iPhone and there is no sound there, either.

The radio is aftermarket. The firmware is up to date. Once the phone is plugged in the charging ding makes a sound but then says it does recognize the device
