Text threads disappeared!

I noticed this morning several text threads that have disappeared since I used them yesterday. I don't recall a software update that was to go through last night and I have not changed any other settings on my phone. I have tried restarting the phone, switching from airplane mode and back, and saw a suggestion to briefly shut off iphone and MMS messaging but nothing seems to work. Has this happened to anyone and were you able to retrieve your messages? I have an SE

We see that you're having some trouble with text messages being missing. We'd be happy to look in to this with you!

Could you please confirm which iOS version you're currently running and how much available space you have on your device? You can find that info in Settings > General > About.

Does this only seem to have happened with text message threads, or does it seem to have impacted iMessage threads as well?
