My iPod touch won't update past iOS 9.3.5, but my friend's iPod is updated to the latest update. How can I update it to the latest update because on the current update there are not many apps that I can download and if I do get them they barely work and always kick me out of the app and makes me restart.

Chances are if your ipod will not update it’s because your device is too old to run the newer operating systems.
How old is your ipod? Go to settings, general, about and it should give you the model name of your device. If it’s anything but an ipod 7 then it cannot run iOS14
