are there ipods that wont update to the new iOS?
I got an older model ipod for my kid but it wont allow many apps or update higher than 9.2 iOS update can that be fixed or is this ipod practically worthless?

A 3th generation iPod can't update past 4.2.1
A 4th generation iPod can't update past 6.1.6
A 5th generation iPod can't update past 9.3.5
A 6th generation iPod can't update past 12.5.5
It's up to you to decide whether it is worthless or not. It still does music, mail, contacts,etc.
