Piano roll: Select ALL notes within one region on one track not supported?

I have researched this and was unable to find a supported key-cmd for this oft-used function. "Select all" (cmd-A) is supported, of course, but then using the Piano Roll and editing one particular track of one region and I use cmd-A, then ALL the notes of the track are selected; I only want to be able to select all the notes of the particular region which I am currently editing. I realize that I could drag the pointer to select a handful of notes. But I might miss some notes without shrinking the size of the window. It seems intuitive that I should be able to select ONLY the notes of one region that I am editing WITHOUT automatically selecting ALL the notes of the entire track. I would like to request that this function be supported. Thank you.

Double-click on a region (you have to set the preferences accordingly, see EddieGrey's post ), then press cmd+a.

Or open the piano roll, then press cmd+a. Like Thyss_81 mentioned, there are many possibilites.

Make sure, the Piano Roll is the active window.
