Is it possible to batch remove gaps between many notes at once? For example, in the screen grab below I have 8 notes, separated by gaps. I know how to manually move the notes one at a time to follow each other without gaps, but is there a way to select a bunch of notes and remove all gaps between them in one go?
Yes, you have to use the "Force Legato" command" and "keep overlapped notes" as in the movie:
But then they change place, which would rythmically make them very different. I don't know if that can be done - because I have never done that myself, and never heard of anyone doing that. Why do you want to do that?
You can do that with regions (it is called "shuffle left"), but not with notes.
Theres a couple of ways to do this, but using Time Handles would be the most straightforward in this case.

Thank you very much for your help. Actually what I'm trying to do isn't force legato. I don't want to lengthen any notes in order to close the gaps. I was just hoping that I could group select a bunch of notes and eliminate spaces or gaps between them while keeping the notes the same length. I was hoping to be able to ripple delete the gaps.
Sorry I should have mentioned that's what I was trying to do - change the rhythm of notes that were too far apart, but to be able to do so in one go. Not have to move them individually one at a time. Perhaps there's no shortcut for that? With a few notes it's not a big deal. But let's say that I add 20 notes (arpeggiator style). Then I realize that I set them too far apart. Is my only option to move them one at a time? Thanks again for your help.
