Why does not phone say activation unsuccessful when I try to use iMessage with my phone number and not just my email?

Messages is working with your email address, but not your phone?


Have you added the phone number?


Messages or FaceTime - Add or remove your phone number    


Have you changed/added the number on your Apple ID? After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime on all devices/computers.
