iPad Mini - recognises cable insertion but not charging

Hi,


My daughters iPad Mini is showing the full screen red battery symbol with the insert lightening cable bit at the bottom. When I insert the cable the insert cable bit disappears so it recognises the cable is inserted but is not charging at all so is stuck on the full screen empty battery page.


I've left it for many hours, tried multiple cables and chargers (that work fine with other devices). It will not force restart with the home + power button hold, and does not show up when connected to a computer.


Any ideas?

Perhaps the battery has reached the critical point of its life.

A 2013 iPad Mini 2 will be 8-years old this year, in 2021.

It is possible that the internal, rechargeable battery is failing or has failed in that iPad.


Time to Search online to locate and call contact your nearest, “local” Apple Store location to try/attempt to make an appointment to get that iPad Mini 2 diagnosed and options presented to you.


OR, failing that,


Contact Apple support via the contact support link located at the upper right hand corner of every Webpage of these Apple support communities.


Use the Battery and Device Performance support categories.


OR


by installing and using the Apple Support app found in the iOS App Store.
