White screen on brand new IPad.

I have a brand new iPad 8th generation. When I turned it on this morning, the screen was white. I turned it off, then on again, and everything looked fine, but I am concerned because this iPad is less than 1 week old! (I did a system update yesterday - did that have anything to do with the white screen?)
