printing is to dark

when printing on my iMac 2017 with the latest OS from a graphics app the output on two different inkjet printers comes out very very dark. this does not happen when printing from Photos or preview.

i am frustrated this has been a problem for a long time. this is not a problem of screen brightness. any ideas out there thanks Ron

Howdy,

As your images print fine from Photos and Preview, this sounds like an issue with your graphics app, not the macOS or printer(s).

What is the graphics app?

Does this happen with all files printed from that app or just a particular kind?

What color profile do you have setup for that app and your printer?

From Use colors in documents on Mac

  1. In an app on your Mac, choose Format > Show Colors, Format > Font > Show Colors, or View > Show Colors. In some apps, you can click a button in the app toolbar or in a settings pane.
  2. Do any of the following:
    • Choose a color for selected text or objects: Click the color wheel, sliders, palette, image, or pencils button at the top of the window, then click a color. You can specify a more precise color by using the sliders or entering values.
    • Save colors to use again: At the bottom of the window, drag the color from the color well on the left to an empty well on the right. To remove a color, drag it to the Trash.
    • Assign a color profile: Click the Color Sliders button, then choose a slider (such as CMYK Sliders) from the pop-up menu. If necessary, adjust the colors by using the sliders or entering values. Then, click the Color Profile settings button next to the pop-up menu to choose a profile.

If your color profile is incorrect for your printer, the colors may be off. Check the Help Guide for your App.
