How do I make my I watch 6 series make a sound when I receive a text message or I message?

On your iPhone, tap on:

Watch > My Watch > Notifications

and make sure the settings are correct (or Mirror my iPhone).

Also, on your watch, make sure you are not in Theater Mode:

Use Control Center on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
