Does the battery still have a significant charge when you boot it up?

Is the laptop awake all night or does it go to sleep? When you wake/power on the laptop is it coming out of hibernation (lightened/ghosted/hazy like screen with a "progress bar" at the bottom of the screen)?

Does the laptop work Ok when using it with just the battery?

Try an SMC Reset.

Yes the battery has plenty of charge. When I open up the Mac pro it is completely in off mode, no screen at all. I have to turn it back on manually. The laptop works perfect with or without using the power cord, it keeps shutting down each night. This started a few weeks ago. Apple support just said to back up and download Big Sur. I don’t feel I have to do that, it’s something else going on. We are using catalina now. Thanks for responding.
