airpods pro - trouble pairing to Samsung TV and MacBook Air

My AirPods Pro used to pair flawlessly to all devices but lately have become very glitchy to the point where I"m looking for another brand that just works (like these used to).

Specifically, there are three issues:

  1. They won't pair properly to my 3 year-old Samsung TV. They used to until about 4-8 weeks ago. Note that they SOMETIMES pair, but then the volume doesn't work, that is, the remote controls the volume on the TV not the AirPods Pro, but it used to.
  2. I have real problems pairing them to my MacBook Air, to the point where I now use an old set of wired ear buds. I can occasionally get them to pair, but it's such a hassle of trying various settings, bluetooth, sound control panel, restarting commuter, etc., etc., that I've given up.
  3. They randomly disconnect from my iPhone 11. In the middle of a phone call, they just disconnect. I can re-pair them, but why should I have to?

Software in all devices is totally up to date. Unless I'm missing some huge fix I'm unaware of, I'm going to give up and put these in a drawer as they are almost unusable. In the last OS update one of the touted features was the ability to flawlessly switch between devices. But whatever they did, had the exact reverse effect , making these things a pain to use, like some cheap Chinese knockoffs.

(BTW, I'm posting this in the iPhone category since I can't find one solely for AirPods.)

iPhone 11, iOS 14
