Macbook Pro (15-inch, 2018) struggling to turn on.

Hello, in recent months my Macbook Pro (15-inch, 2018) running macOS Big Sur is struggling to boot up after shutdown. In the past my Macbook would start upon opening the lid but now it just refuses to start up. I'll press down on the track and it still will not boot up. When I finally press or press and hold the power button, the Macbook will start to produce power as signified by anything connected to my USB-C hub beginning to charge but a black screen on the Macbook. Sometimes the Macbook doesn't load macOS Big Sur all until I just begin pressing random buttons on keyboard and in other instances the Macbook will eventually boot up on it's own accord. Can anyone please tell me what's causing this issue and how do I go about fixing it.

Hi Topcat360,

Welcome to the Apple Community where some of us do our best too help each other.

Apple has a support page online that may help you troubleshoot:

If your Mac doesn't start up all the way

https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT204156

As your Mac seems to be struggling:

You might want to check if you are keeping at least 50Gb of storage: space to operate with.

(Apple icon > About this Mac > Storage)

If that is the difficulty, you might need to move large files on to a portable hard-drive, or get rid of files you no longer need.

There are other things you might want to try:

Batteries: Maximising performance:

https://www.apple.com/batteries/maximizing-performance/

How to use Safe Mode on your Mac:

https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201262

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac

https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT202731

Hope this helps
