Logic Remote Not Connecting to Logic

Logic Remote used to work fine, now it constantly disconnects from Logic.

I've tried:

-Resetting the Wifi

-Erasing my Logic.10 cache and AU cache. I've done this by find the files in the Cache folder in Library, and erasing them.

-Restarting Logic, Restarting Logic Remote, restarting the ipad and Macbook Pro.

-I've also reinstalled Logic 10.5.

-I've updated the Logic Remote App to latest Version.

-I've updated my OSX

Sometimes it works on a fresh new Logic session, sometimes it doesn't appear at all.

'Paul D Macbook' appears on the ipad 'connect' dialogue box but when I select my 'Paul D Macbook', it just says 'Attempting to connect to Paul D Macbook'.

What I'm using:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) - 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7

Logic 10.5.1

OS X 10.14.6

Ipad Air 2

ios 13.6.1

iPad Air 2, iPadOS 13

Hi

This often sorts out Logic Remote connection issues:

Quit Logic Remote

Go to Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Setup

Delete any existing Logic Remote Devices

Restart Logic Remote and follow the prompts on both devices.

Sounds like your Control Surfaces Preferences may be corrupt.

Quit Logic & Logic Remote

In the Finder, use the Go menu whilst holding down the Option key. An entry in the "Go List" will pop up when you hold down Option: 'Library).

Go to this 'User' Library

Inside there find the Preferences Folder

Inside there find the Control Surfaces preferences file:

com.apple.logic.pro.cs

Drag that file to the Trash

Restart the Mac

Restart Logic ( check that the two instances of iPad in Control Surfaces setup are gone)

Restart Logic Remote

Logic should ask if you want the iPad to connect

Hi CCT, thanks a lot for your reply.

I was doing this before, and sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.

Now it won't even allow me to erase the ipads that are displayed in the control surface menu (found in Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Setup). There are now 2 ipads displayed there, both showing an amber exclamation mark icon on the top right corner of each. But for some reason I can no longer erase them from the panel.

Of course I've double checked that Logic Remote is closed, i've also shut down the ipad.

Any ideas?

Hi Eddie.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it does appear to work with the cable, Ive just tried it. Unfortunately this doesn't really help me, however, since I use Logic Remote to control Logic from different recording rooms.

I'm currently downloading and installing Big Sur, so I can upgrade to Logic 10.6. Hopefully this will help (and hopefully the upgrade doesn't give me any hassle with my plugins and other hardware etc - I try to avoid updates unless I absolutely have to).

Any ideas?

Hi Eddy, unfortunately this did not solve the query. As I said before I use the Logic Remote remotely, so cable connectivity is not possible.

It does appear to work with the cable, but only when i'm next to the computer, with the cable plugged in, of course. What I need is wireless connectivity, this is the sole reason I purchased the ipad.

I've also tried the computer to computer network this doesn't work either, it just gave me the same issue.

I've also no reason to think there's anything wrong with my wifi connection. In addition to this, the problem is not like drop out. It just won't connect to the computer. When trying to connect to the computer, my macbook is always displayed on the ipad as an available option, it just never actually connects.

Any ideas of what I should do?

Hi Eddie,

I don't have an iPhone, I use Android.

I'll try with my friend's iPhone, however I don't think this is the problem, since it was working totally fine with my ipad before, so its likely to work with the iPhone for a bit and then stop working, I'd say. It's some sort of system files/settings I reckon.

I've also taken my computer to my friends apartment to try on a different WIFI network, and that's not making any difference.

Also, worth adding - I've now updated to Big Sur and Logic 10.6.
