Deleted text messages

So I go a new iPhone and transferred all of my data across. I was then deleting all the info on my old phone for my dad to use whilst still being logged in to my iCloud account (silly I know). I have now lost all of my texts messages on both phones. I have always had my messages backed up with the iCloud but I do not know how to access them. Many thanks

Older text messages not transferring to new iPhone I switched from the 12 Pro Max to the 14 Pro Max, and ran a full backup on my phone to iCloud, and then restored to the new phone. My older text messages, before 2020 do not show up and there are a few that I keep such as ones from my dad who passed away. I have the setting on the new phone set to keep messages forever. Any idea why it would not bring over the older messages, is there a true limit? Perhaps those messages were created before iMessage existed so that's why? I still have the old phone, so any ideas to transfer them over? Thank you!

Older messages didn’t transfer to new phone (12 pro max) Hi, when I transferred everything from my iPhone 11 to my 12 pro max it didn't transfer all of my messages. I didn't realize until I'd been using the new one for a while that it hadn't transferred older messages, it only goes back a few months. I need access to those older messages and they’re still in my old phone but I need to wipe that phone so I can set it up for my kids. Is there a way to keep the messages on iCloud or somewhere so that I can access them as needed? I don’t need them on my new phone necessarily, I just need to be able to access them.

where do i find my imessages on the icloud? Hello I need to restore my mom's phone to factory settings however, some old text messages from her husband who has pasted are on the phone. She has the messages backed up in icloud however, we can't find them when we log into icloud. Should there be an icon we can click on? Thanks!

If your messages were linked to your iCloud account and you deleted them on a phone that was still signed into your account then you deleted them everywhere.

You should have wiped the whole phone using Erase all content and settings so he could have set it up with his appleID.
