Apple calendar is sending multiple email alerts for a single event with only one alert set.

Apple Calendar Multiple Email Alerts

I have 2 apple calendars. 1 is for daily use and the other is for Birthday & Anniversary reminders. They are both shared on multiple devices. iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad & iPhone. All up to date based upon the os for each one. Catalina & Big Sur, iOS 12 & iOS 14 respectively.

iCloud (myemail@me.com) for the Birthday & Anniversary Calendar is sending multiple identical email reminders (4) for every annual event.

There is a single calendar entry for every event.

There is a single email alert set for each event at 9am the day of the event (default setting).

All devices are synced with the iCloud calendar, email, etc.

These are email alerts so I do not believe, nor have I found any settings to change in “notifications” in system settings.

Nor have I found any settings in the Mac Calendar, iPhone/iPad Calendar or online in the iCloud Calendar to address this situation.

And of course I have not found an answer through google or I would not be posting this.

My best theory, after trying every tip I could find online, is each device is somehow creating additional emails. I believe the settings should be shared by the iCloud and the devices should not individually override the iCloud.

However, as I stated above, I have not found the answer for how to correct this irritant.

I tried to be as descriptive above as possible. If there is something I missed that might help please ask.

If anyone has a solution or any help please post.

Gratefully,

CaddyGo

Hi Caddygo,

It sounds like you are experiencing some issues with notifications for events in the Calendar application. We can get you pointed in the right direction for support with this.

To start, we found a few resources that explain how to update your notification preferences for your Calendar events:

Once you've reviewed the resources and had a chance to review the alerts for your events, let us know if you continue to experience issues.

The above links repeat the same unhelpful "resolutions" I have repeatedly found. They describe the basics of troubleshooting which I did months ago and seemingly have no effect on my situation. I turned off all the computers last night except 2. I received 2 email notifications (at 9am, my default time) for the same event. After booting the two, which were turned off, at my office I received 2 more emails for the same event but time stamped shortly after reboot. Each computer seems to be sending its own email notification. I have everything (including all calendars) connected to the cloud. There are no duplicate events on the calendars and no duplicate calendars, no additional calendars with these same events and no calendars which are not in the cloud. The few duplicates I found were irrelevant, were deleted months ago and made no difference in the email notifications. I am continuing my troubleshooting and would appreciate any helpful assistance. Thank you
