iPhone 12 hotspot disconnecting from laptop

I do not have the internet at home, I do however have unlimited data on my mobile phone contract, so I don't need a router, landline etc.

I connect to the internet via the phone hotspot but it randomly disconnects, which is very frustrating to say the least.

Due to the pandemic I am working from home, so I can be sitting working on a document that I do not need a connection for, but have my work email connected. I then go to check on emails and find that ones I have been waiting on might have been sent to me hours ago, but as the hotspot has decided to disconnect then I've had no notification of them arriving - I do not have my work email on my phone - I guard my private time very well. This has caused a lot of problems in my working life, with missing deadlines for replying and the work having to be put over to the coming month. I have tried Apple support, but they are less than useless and give the "we deal with billing" answer no matter who I contact - this is an absolutely woeful issue and Apples lack of any attempt to fix it is shocking.

I never had this issue with my Google Pixel and wish I had never moved to Apple, you can be sure of one thing though, I'll never buy another Apple product and I can't wait till this contract is over so I can go back to the Android system.

Pixel definitely was a better phone and Android a better system - Apple seem to have a silent Cr in front of their name!

Use these steps first

Restart the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot and the other device that needs to connect to Personal Hotspot. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS. On the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings.

If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi

The Hotspot is a carrier specific feature. Contact your carrier, if it is not appearing on your device.

Meanwhile..

Check the following

  1. Network coverage and stability
  2. Data Balance
  3. On you windows (See if WiFi Auto Joins is enabled)
  4. Also check if you have any stronger WiFi signal around your computer.

Have done all those steps and followed everything else I could find both in Apple support and the internet in general - nothing works!

Latest issue - (trying) to scroll through photos with phone connected to laptop via lightning cable - it keeps freezing and I have to refresh explorer on my laptop - again an issue I never had when using with my Android phone, and there's actually less pictures on my iPhone than there had been on my Android as I deleted a lot of old ones before transferring them to the iPhone.
