I spilled water on my Macbook Pro 15" 2017..

Hi. Last night about a glass of water spilled all over my macbook pro 15", the one with the touchbar. I quickly shut it down, patted out the water off the surface and put it upside down. When it felt like there was no water left for me to remove, i closed it and went to sleep. Then i watched videos that said to put it in a tent position, but i already left it closed the whole like 6 hours?! I'm really scared that it won't open again

FWIW, my 2020 MacBook Pro experienced a water spill. Based on your post, it was less than that. I did pretty much the same to try to minimize any further damage and DID NOT power-it back up. I contacted Apple Support directly and used their mail-in service to have them take a look at it. It turned out that "little" spill still managed to end up requiring a new logic board, keypad, & display. Fortunately, I have AppleCare+ with it and the repair cost was significantly reduced.

Not trying to "scare" you, but any liquid that managed to enter your notebook could still leave conductive residue. As such, powering up the notebook could potentially cause more damage. As you have a 2017 notebook, chances are it doesn't still have an active AppleCare+ plan associated with it, and any repair cost will become your burden ... which may be as much as a new notebook. At this point in time, you obviously have a few choices. Three that I see are:

  1. Hope over time that all the liquid evaporates and there was no residue left behind.
  2. Take the notebook to your local Apple Store Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to have them take a look and provide you with your repair options.
  3. Replace the notebook.

I would suggest trying #2. A repair estimate should be free.
