Cannot transfer RAW files from iPhone to Mac

Hello,

I am using an iPhone 12 Pro Max with RAW enabled, the iPhone is running 14.4.2 I am trying to transfer these to my 2018 MB Air that is currently running the latest version of Big Sur 11.2.3

No matter what I do, every RAW file that I transfer to my Mac ends up as a jpeg.

I've tried:

iCloud link - jpeg

Air drop - jpeg

Drop box - jpeg

The image capture app - fails import

Nothing works. Image capture tries to import DNG files but stops after a few moments with an error message that my iPhone has been disconnected.

The apple support article about transferring RAW files mentions most of these solutions but nothing is working.

I've turned on save high resolution files to local device no RAW files show up in the Photos app on my Mac roughly 2 hours after changing the photos settings.

Any suggestions?
