Pages file error. "Does Not Exist"

The document is on iCloud pages drive, but I get "File does not exist" when I try to open it. There is an accurate preview. What can be done?

Hi lesliefromllano,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you see "The file doesn't exist" when trying to open a Pages document, so we'd like to see how we can help. First, make sure that you have the latest version of Pages from the Mac App Store with these steps: How to manually update apps on your Apple device. If Pages is already updated or if updating doesn't help, start your Mac in safe mode and open the document: How to use safe mode on your Mac. Then, restart your Mac normally and attempt to open it again.

If the issue persists, reply to this message and let us know if you've noticed this with one or multiple documents.

Take care.

lesliefromllano,

Safe mode is used as a troubleshooting step since it performs certain checks and prevents some software from automatically loading or opening, which could help narrow down what may be causing the issue. This wouldn't be used permanently to open your files. You mentioned that the document in the screenshot is saved on iCloud Drive. Just to clarify, are you opening the documents from Finder or directly from your desktop? If you're opening them from your desktop, try opening them from Finder and let us know how it goes.

Cheers!

So this kinda helped. I am all up to date with Pages. I did open in Safe mode and I could then open the files. I'm having this issue with a great number of old files (c. 2015). While in safe mode, I opened and closed several documents. Then when I restarted in regular mode, I could open those files that I had opened in safe mode. But neighboring files that I did not open in safe mode were still getting the same error message pasted above, "the File does not exist."

Frustrating. Surely I won't have to always open in safe mode. Any more suggestions for getting all my files accessible?
