transfering old iphoto pictures to open in new macbook air?

Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old machine to the Pictures Folder on the new machine.
Then Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch Photos.app. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point it at the Library you just copied over. It will do the rest.
