Apple Music Web Player Stops After 15 Minutes

Or it may be that when your network at work senses inactivity (or what it thinks is inactivity) after some period, it shuts down the link. You should talk to your IT administrator at work.

We understand that on a PC you are using Apple Music in a web browser and notice that songs stop playing after 15 minutes or if you pause a song you are unable to restart the song again. 

Let’s work to isolate the situation. Have you had a chance to test the issue using Apple Music via a web browser on another network and device? You should be able to test this on your Mac as well. We want to be sure there isn’t anything on your work network or work computer that might play in to this. 

Let us know what you find out.

Great isolating, thanks for taking the time to do that. You mentioned that you tested the issue on another PC using the same work network and did not notice the pausing. As long as everything else was constant, the account was yours, you were listening to the same type of music, etc then this is a good test and isolates the issue back to your specific PC. 

Are you able to use another browser on your PC as well as check for any updates? We know that in a corporate environment an update may need to be approved or pushed by your IT team, so if that’s not something you can check we can skip that step for now.

I am having the same issue at work using MS Edge & Chrome on Windows 10 networked workstations. It happens on all workstations at the institution where I am working. We have a very large intranet so there's not a lot of flexibility in getting our IT department to alter individual workstations.

The most frustrating part of it is that Spotify, Pandora and Youtube Music all work just fine on either of the browsers I mentioned above. I also just cancelled my memberships to all of them except for Apple Music and signed up for the family plan for Apple Music. I'm a huge Apple proponent and really can't believe Apple is ready to label it as a network or update issue when all competitors work fine.

Same here. No way IT has time to fiddle with computer settings just so I can listen to music. This issue plus the fact that apple music isn't compatible with my smart TV means I'll likely be switching back to Spotify! Apple's desire for a monopoly will be it's own undoing.

I'm having this same issue but it's not related to windows updates or a work network that I'm aware of. 15 minutes of playing is all I can get before it stops and have to reload the web player.

Yesterday I was trying some different things and I noticed that if I play the "New Music Mix" on the For You tab the music stops exactly at 15 minutes. If I play from my library it will play and not stop. I talked to our IT department and they said they are not doing anything to shut the streaming down at all. All this points to some issue with the web player.
