Video pauses on own, multiple apps

Hi

I have a newer ATV with tvOS 14.4 and I run a few dedicated streaming apps (FloBikes, OneSoccer, Netflix, etc) that have recently begun to pause streams all on their own. I hit the pause button twice and the video continues as before, but within 5 minutes it pauses again...

Live streams don't have this problem, but archive streams and Netflix movies do (I've not tested recently for other mainstream apps).

I tried deleting the app and reinstalling, and also a factory reset and reinstall, and no change.

This is on two different ATVs, same symptoms.

Wifi is strong 5GHz signal, two different channels, and the UL/DL speeds are high in the house at each ATV location.

Any ideas?

Try a 2.4GHz signal and see if that helps. It still may be a networking situation on your end. What I'd do before switching the channel though is in the following order:

  • Unplug and then Restart Modem
  • Unplug and then Restart Router
  • Unplug the Apple TV from it's power source for 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and re-test.
